Eggcrate pads

We have just started using eggcrates only under patients who will be in steep trendelenburg or reverse. We are basically making up this positioning as we go along until we find what works best. Anyone been using these? Do you put the drawsheet for arm tucking under the eggcrate or under patient? We have been taping it to the bed, but this is wrecking the mattress with tape residue. Company has no suggestions.......There are some very fancy ones with arm pads, Velcro straps to hook to bed, but these are very pricey so we just have a big roll we cut. Thanks

    For patients having surgeries requiring steep positioning, (such as robotic hysterectomy) we use shelf liner over a large underbody gel pad. One roll will do about 2 cases.

    Sorry, I'm not following-do you mean the rubber-type ones at target in kitchen supplies? I've only seen these in 12 inches. Where do you get them? And how do you tuck arms? Thanks

    We use pink gel foam type pads, probably similar to what you're talking about. The pad comes with a draw sheet & foam straps to assist in securing the patient. For larger patients we use a different strap. On the rare occasion we don't have the pink pads, we use gel pads.

    It doesn't seem that taping egg crates to the bed would be safe in steep tberg and I wonder how it would hold up in a malpractice lawsuit.
