I have just recently learned from a friend ( in New Jersey) that NCLEX is changing, the questions will be harder and they will be in different formats. My teacher has confirmed this is TRUE! Well has anyone received from their school examples or ideas from the Board of Nursing examples or how the exam will most likely look like? I'm currently studying for my 2nd attempt I'm using Kaplan 2013-2014, Kaplan 2014-1015, Exam Cram-PN 3rd Edition, Saunder's CD my school gave us. Does anyone have advice???

What is effective April 2014 that you are seeking advice about?
The NCLEX changes every 3 years. It's not a secret that the NCLEX-PN was being updated effective April 2014. The changes are relatively minor and publicly available on the NCSBN website here:

Or you can google NCSBN NCLEX-PN April 2014 test plan

Do Kaplan q bank questions. All of them. And more. That'll help you the most
Thank you JustBeachyNurse for the site I will be sure to read the information on there. Thank you hipvamore I will be sure to continue doing my Kaplan q bank questions and my other books too :)
The changes don't seem to be as major as some hype them up to be. The same 8 areas of focus with small changes in the range of percent of questions presented. It doesn't appear that they raised the passing standard like they did in 2011. Both the 2011 and 2014 basic & detailed test plans are available on the NCSBN website.

It's not so much that the questions will be more difficult. They just changed the NCLEX-RN in 2013. They always change it. There will be different styles of questions. If it is anything like NCLEX-RN, it will be SATA, Hot spot, fill in the blank (dosage calc), Drag and drop, etc. They are also raising the passing level bar. So, it will be more difficult to pass, as someone who takes it before April 2013 will not have a higher passing bar. But the questions won't be more difficult.
There are already SATA, hot spot, drag & drop and other alternative style questions on the NCLEX -PN, and have been since the 2008 revision.
The primary change is the percentage of each domain. Last year NCLEX RN changed the pharmacology percentage. NCLEX PN 2014 revision there is no change in percentage of pharmacology questions.
It doesn't appear that the passing line has been raised again like it was in 2011. So difficulty is not supposed to change just the percentage of the 8 domains of proficiency. The link above explains the changes well
So it's always good really make sure to be ready more than ever than.
I have studied my Kaplan Question bank that I had bought and did Exam Cram for PN 3rd Edition and re-did my ATI. But thanks to Kaplan mostly and Exam Cram.... when I went to review my ATI I understood why the answers were what they were and ATI is EASY now compared to what Kaplan Test Question Bank put me through and Exam Cram. I've mailed in my re application to Board of Nursing and Paid Pearson Vue. So now I'm like a sitting duck, I took a few days off from reviewing anything to give my mind a rest. I now have the confidence that I didn't have the first time, and this time I pray every single day during my studying of two months of getting myself ready, and I still pray now. Before like when I was going to take it the first time in Feb 2014 I would have terrible nightmares, now not one nightmare. Did anyone re take the PN for the second or what not After April 1, 2014 ???? Does anyone see the differences that are posted???
