OMG.....did u all get the letter? EC just mailed out letters stating their new fees for eff 7/1. Funny, they only gave 2 days notice....you would think they would give students a least a month's notice in order to plan finances.
The exams are now $25 more a pop! Practice exams are now $75, FCCA $150 per test, CPNE $2035....I guess just $10 more and the list goes on. OMG...I better go pay for my last exam (LS3) and the practice exam too, by tomorrow. Too bad I can't do anything about the FCCA, could have save myself the extra $60 bucks!! Oh well!
Good Luck guys, and if you can try to pay before Friday 7/1!!!!!

Yep, I just posted the increases in another thread (after talking to Admissions today):
"Now, here's the BAD NEWS: Excelsior College's Fees are ALL going up July 1!! He said they usually do go up in July, but this is the first time he can remember that they have ALL gone up... Here is a summary:
Enrollment 895 to 975
Exam fees 250 to 275
Annual fee 440 to 465
Practice exam 65 to 75
FCCA 390 to 450
CPNE 2025 to 2035
I am not yet enrolled, but am considering paying for 1 - 3 exams... uh... tomorrow to try to avoid the price increase. I still need to wait to enroll, to try to finish within a year, to avoid the (now higher) annual fee! Hey, here's a new goal... everybody needs to FINISH before next July 1st!!

You do know that you have to enroll inorder to pay for 1-3 exams....right? Doing so could save about $160 and you can always put the enrollment fee on a pmt plan. I'm on the pmt plan which should be paid off I believe next month and my exams will also be ALL completed by then! It is my goal also to finish within a year (2/2012) inorder to avoid the $465 annual fee.....Good luck, you can do it too!
I should have been more specific... the exams I am planning to take before enrolling are EC's Micro Exam, then Health Safety and Transitions Nursing Exams. With the 4 Gen Ed classes I still need to complete - Eng101, Info Lit, Dev Psych, and Micro... I was afraid that I couldn't finish everything in the year!
You brought up a great point... IF I signed up for the payment plan, I wonder if it would be at the 'old' rate??!! Something to look into, for sure!
Thanks! And good luck to you!!!!

Barbara, you will get the old fee for sure as long as you do setup the pmt plan before mid-night tomorrow! I just paid for my (LS3) exam and the practice to go with it, both at the "old rate"!

Honestly, I know it stinks because the prices are going up, especially for those who are paying out of pocket for the program, but prior to me enrolling in Excelsior, I was attending DeVry University and it cost me 3500.00 (NO KIDDING) for one class. That is part of the reason I'm here. But, I did enroll in my first exam, and I'm doing my enrollment fee on a payment plan. At least I Got a break on that!! Excelsior's prices are SO reasonable compared to other schools. I just wish they took federal financial aid for the AS in Nursing. It would make my life a lot easier!!!!
P.S. I almost forgot this... the Advisor also said that they are considering changing the General Education requirements, perhaps effective Sept/Oct... to ADD a math class to the required courses... He said to keep checking back with EC... as of right now, it has not changed.

Did anyone get a notice from excelsior by mail or email of the increase? What a shame. Everything is going up except the salaries. I barely have enough to pay my bills and now this.
I got a letter in the mail the other day. I agree, no increase in salaries, but an increase in everything else. And it really stinks when you're paying out of pocket!
