Easy Department

Hi,

I just have a few quick questions. I would like to start working in the evening or night shift.

1. Which deparments are the easiest to work at?

2. Easiest means less patients and the work is pretty much easy.

Any suggestions? Ideas?

I agree, none are easy.....but i've often wondered if PACU might be a good choice......things go wrong in PACU and ya gotta be a pretty sharp nurse and on your toes, but when they don't go wrong you recover them and ship them, no admits, no discharges, no baths, NO FAMILY, no meals, no call lights, streamlined paperwork....but I would not dare to assume. I know it's busy and intense work as any other unit, but minus alot of the extra stressors. Any PACU nurses want to comment and give us the inside scoop? I always imagined it might be a great place to work for those reasons, fantasy, fact or fiction?

I did PACU for a few years, and the above reasons are alot of why I did it..no families, admits, etc. It was a nice break from ICU, for sure. yes, it could be hectic, but I enjoyed doing it. I worked nights so sometimes it could be quite overwhelming when I was by myself..other nights, there wasn't much going on. But overall, if I had to back to the bedside, PACU would be my first choice.
