Easy College Math Pre-req help!

ok i know i have to have a B in college math for the UNLV BSN program and i got a stinking C in this course i took like 8 years ago so i need advice...do i take the same course here and i know it's gonna be freaking hard and i don't want to blow it cuz i know i only have 2 chances OR...do i wait to get to unlv and take an easier math along with the rest of the last of my pre req's?

I'm confused by "easier math" -- what do you mean? You will still have to take College Algebra at UNLV, and I presume it should be just as difficult here. Wherever you take it, make sure you study your butt off and do well because if you take College Algebra more than two times without successfully getting a 'B', then UNLV will no longer accept you into their BSN program.

Perhaps you should look into a tutoring service (on or off-campus) and figure where your weak strengths are to assure yourself that you will do well.

it would seem some remediation may be required.....look into basic math courses and work up from there.....math, like nursing, is built one block on top of the last......you need to start with the first "weak" block, not try to build on it...

The math here, it's like algebra, trig, calculus, logrithims, i mean it's hard. What math courses would you reccomend at UNLV that would be a pretty safe bet to pass with a B?

There are remedial math courses at UNLV (actually, you may want to check that out because last time I heard, UNLV was doing away with remedial math courses below the 100 level; however, CCSN still does offer those courses). But, a remedial math course does not fulfill the college algebra requirement -- only College Algebra does. I think the college algebra course here is MATH 120 or 124, so you must complete that or a higher course to fulfill the requirement. You can take a lower level math class to help build skills, but it will not fulfill the college algebra requirement for the BSN program. Hope that helps. :)

Yeah it helped a little, the math class that i have to take here is MT 125, so it probably won't be much different now here's another question. Let's say gosh darn forbid i get below a B AGAIN ok now i'm blackballed from the 4 year BSN program. so say i get my RN at CCSN and transfer to UNLV, are they still going to hold that stupid math course against me or just look and verify that i have taken that credit? because CCSN would be my plan B. From what I read there, I don't see any type of stipulation regarding a 'B' in your college algebra.

However, I know you can get a 'B' in college algebra! :) Just study your butt off, get a tutor, and ask for help from your professor.
