Dual training

Can you dual train in nursing

I'm a pre-registration nursiing student on the adult branch, but iv always though of working in mental health. Iv worked with nurses who are RMN/RGN and RSCN/RGN and like the range of nursing oppurties this could bring.

However with MAD is this no longer possible has anyone from project2000 onwards done this, and as it leads to a first registraion how is it funded.

I originally trained as an Adult RN (Project 2000) and then got seconded by a hospital to do my RN-Child. The biggest hurdle came after I qualified as every potential employer wanted me to drop to a bottom "D" grade. Finally went onto agency nursing to gain experience-now do bank in the private sector to keep my second qualification.

Good luck with your adult training and good luck if you decide to dual qualify:)

A friend of mine is an RNLD which she did through project 2000, she is employed by the NHS and during supervision she stated that there was a valid need for her to be dual trained in mental health. she was seconded to do an 18 month conversion.

i dont know how you go about applying directly through the university if you haven't got the opportunity to be seconded. Although i do know of an RGN who did a part time conversion to RNLD but dont know how he was funded
