do all nurses get drug tested before they start working?

I've had 5 different jobs as an LPN/LVN and have only had to have a drug test before I began working with only one employer. It just depends on the employer.

In my personal experience, the more reputable employers require drug tests before you start the job. I've worked at nursing homes that are desperate for staff, and some of these places generally do not spend the time or money on testing their employees for drugs.

If you have nothing to hide, a drug test should not incite any worries or anxiety.

yes, i got drug tested at both hospitals i've worked at.

:):)Yes...

Lots of facilities and Hospitals require a drug test before they allow you to do clinicals (as a Student) or work there (as a Employee).

These places test all potiental hires... so it would be a "slap in the face" to the employees NOT to test students doing clinicals there.

If you don't do drugs (or can stop long enough to pass the test... 30-45 days for WEED) it shouldn't be a problem...:nuke:

i have worked in two hospitals and two ltcf and have never been drug tested. i wouldn't have a problem with it if they did want to. i don't know if prescription meds show up on them or not, but if they did, it would be easy enough to explain.
