when they come around........................

10:27 am

OUrs also come at 10:27

What's the significance of 10:27 ?????????? Or is that just an inside joke????

I think the "10:27" answer was just a light-hearted way to say you can't predict it.

The only "predictable" rounds at my ICU is the pulmonary doctors. They round first thing in the morning, usually starting around 0730. All the other docs -- you just never know. Patients and families are always asking us ..."when will Dr. Wonderful be here." Ya just never know. Cardiologist could be doing a cath. Surgeon could be in the OR. GP has varying office hours. Who knows?!

When the families ask when the doctors make rounds, my reply is usually 'when they get here.' I tend to get some strange looks. I go on to explain that I have absolutely no idea when they will be around - they could be here in 5 minutes or it could be late this afternoon - they don't tend to tell me their schedule.

PS..... the only predictible doctors are the Trauma residents.... they are in the unit between 0330 and 0430 every morning - barring an incoming trauma, of course.

When I was in Trauma/Burn it used to be either 5:30 or 6a depending on the team that was covering. That is resident's rounds. In NICU the surgeons also round at 6a, the neonatal residents come in around 7:15 a.

Attending rounds are variable, never any earlier than 9a, no matter what service.

Zee wins.

ZEE RN we must work in the same place.

In the ICU at Madigan Army Medical Center the Residents/MDs make rounds twice a day, usually btwn 0830-0930 & 1300-1400.
