Drexel University ACE Program Fall 2011 Start

Has anyone actually asked Fran on the phone when we'd expect to hear back from Drexel? I could have sworn she said to me it was on a rolling basis.

Hello all,

I just wanted to wish everyone a quick good luck and hope that we are all classmates come next Fall!

I applied in July, after the info session I attended. I have just requested that my last transcript be sent yesterday from the community college where I am completing my pre-reqs, having just finished Nutrition and Developmental Psych. This Fall, I am taking A&P I along with Micro, then A&P II and Ethics in the Spring at which time, all of my pre-reqs will be satisfied.

After working in my current position for over 6 years, making excellent money, I realized that I was miserable and needed to think seriously about changing careers. I always thought of becoming a nurse, but the time was never right for me. After much thought and reflection, I realized that it was time to stop thinking about it and to make it happen, which brings me to today.

When I hear from Drexel, I'll let you all know!

Nolibsdan .. when you attended the info session what did they tell you about how long it would take to hear a response after your application was complete? just curious.

Never fear guys! I just emailed Fran today to ask about when we fall 2011ers should hear a decision by.

I'll post again when she responds.

Hey Schick672! At the info session, the time frame given is on par with what has been posted, 4-6 weeks. I believe that the admissions commitee meets every 4 weeks to make decisions.

I'm not sure if you are local to Philadelphia, but I found the session to be informative. Fran is actually the one that ensures that your application is complete and all of your transcripts have been received. From there, she passes it on to the admissions commitee.

So I called drexel this morning and admissions transferred me to Tina, one of the people who is in charge of offering admission and would also be our academic counselor, and I explained the situation to her and she said she was sorry we were given the wrong info and in fact they will not start reviewing applications until after the Oct. 15 deadline. She said beginning Nov. 1st she will begin to make offers and will continue for the next 4-6 weeks after that. So the wait continues .. ughh!!!

Ugh! That stinks! Glad you got a definitive response though.

And so the wait continues! Nov 1st I'm sure all of us will be back in this thread panicing and waiting for our decisions.

Quick question, has everyone already finished all of their pre requisites or you will finish them by this coming fall term 2010? I need to finish three classes in the Spring 2011 term so I was wondering. I just called the admissions office but they were about to close for the day.

The site says they want you to have at least 7 of the pre-reqs completed when you apply. Also, you must have ALL done 3 months before you start.

Ok guys got an email back from Drexel. It's confirmed. They start to review applications after the October 15th deadline for fall 2011 ACE. They will send out responses typically within 6 weeks.

It's fine if you have classes to finish up in the spring.. I remember them saying as long as they are done by June you are fine and most spring classes are over by then anyway!

I'm actually kind of happy thar our apps won't be looked at until after the deadline. I don't know about everyone else but now I'll find out my decisions for all the schools I have applied to right around the same time.. Hopefully it will be a good early Christmas present :)

Thanks for the quick reply about the pre requisites. You guys are ON IT! Prepared to the fullest :) Out of curiosity I was looking at deadlines etc. for 2011 but I didn't know that so many people were already prepared to file an application at the end of this spring! It feels like I have so many classes to finish but I need to be starting the application process at the same time. Applying to a bunch of schools is going to be like taking a four credit course besides trying to ace the remainder of my pre req's. I'm still debating on taking the GRE.... Pace requires it but I'm debating about even applying there after reading stories about the accelerated program on allnurses.... I'll figure it out over the next few weeks.
