Douglas College Psyc Nursing Program Anyone?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone who has taken the Psyc Nursing program at Douglas College could give me some tips on what to expect. And, would it be possible to work one day a week (Saturdays)? Or is this program that intense that I should be devoting that Saturday to studying? Any advice or comments would be appreciated!! :D

My sister is taking the Psych Nursing Degree program at Douglas College, and I'm taking the Psych Nursing Degree program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Douglas has a great program. My sister is going on to her third year in the program and was able to work a couple times a week and continue to do well on her studies. One day a week is definately manageable just stay on top of your readings and organize your time and priorities because the load increases as you get further through the program. Are you taking degree or diploma? My sister said its actually not too difficult and intense, although she does have great time management

i have not yet graduated qveronica. im not sure if you are in a program in bc or you are an international nurse. your questions may be best answered by looking at the crpnbc.ca website and contacting them, also check out douglas.bc.ca and http://www.kwantlen.ca/calendar/programs/bpn.html. in regards to preparing for your examination this site http://www.crpnbc.ca/orientation_exam.pdf is very helpful as it provide a list of self study materials. exam preparation course if also available, the contacts are stated on the website. good luck to you!

Bosa, or anyone else who is accepted in the douglas program,

Do you know how competative acceptance is? What sort of education and/or volunteer work did you have prior to nursing?

Also do you know exactly how the point system works, and how many 'points' did you have prior to admission.

Thanks.

Bosa, thats so interesting that you and your sister are both in psych nursing and at 2 different schools! I am trying deciding between those two which school to apply to for psych nursing. Do you think the program at Douglas is superior to Kwantlen's? Douglas seems to be more popular maybe because it has been around longer, but kwantlen is a university offering also BA of psych. So i'm not sure which to apply to?

I wonder if applying to both be wrong? Because i know there will be a waitlist but i dont know which one will be longer?

I just got into the psych nursing @ Kwantlen for May & I am very excited. I've heard/read lots of good things about it.

Hi Bosa,

Can you please do me a huge favor and as your sister if there is a wait list for the Psychiatric Nursing Program at douglas? Also can you please ask her if it is competitive? I'm currently 20 years old and I'm very stressed because I have wasted 2 years and now I have finally realised what I would like to do.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Thank you!

Dee :D

Has anyone applied for the winter 2012 semester? I'm waiting to hear news and its driving me crazy. The response I got from the admissions assistant was extremely vague and unhelpful

Hi Kaylee88, I too have applied for the winter 2012 Nursing program, but have not yet received the preferential scores. Someone in the registrar's office told me that they have just begun to calculate the scores.

Is this for psych nursing or regular nursing? I hope they post our scores, it'll be nice to see a sign that there's something going on behind the scenes :)

I have applied for the regular nursing program. However, I assume both Psychiatric and regular applications are reviewed simultaneously.

Yes, it is nice if we can find out the preferential scores or any news.

Have you read any responses posted by other applicants?
