Dosage Calculations Question

hi guys i'm preparing for my dosage calculations test soon and i wanted to know if there was a way to double check my answer to ensure that the answered i got is infact correct.

for example:

the doctor prescribes synthroid 175mcg po daily. however, the available tablets contain 25 mcg each. how many of these tablets should the nurse administer.

the answer i got is 7 tablets and the formula i used is d(dose ordered)/h( dose on hand) mulitiplied by x.

now that i have that answer is there any way of going back and checking to ensure that its right? like could i take the 7 tablets and multiply it by something to get 175mcg again? hmm i dunno help guys. thank you in advance.

well 7 looks like alot but you gotta consider that it is a daily order

and 7 *25 = 175

175 divided by 25 = 7.

7 X 25= 175.

It really helps to write out each step, and then double check your answers at the end to spot any errors... :)

175mcg/day x 1 pill/25mcg

is the equation. The 175 is in the numerator, per day is the denominator. Times 1 pill (the numerator) per 25mcg (the denominator). The mcg cancels out, and you are left with 7 pills per day.

I can't get this board to format things so that I can show the "factor label: method. So I tried to describe it.
