Does the Nursing School Matter?

Does which program/ school you get your nursing degree really matter after graduation & after you pass the NCLEX? I'm looking at programs in the east bay- comparing CSUEB, San Jose State, and USF for the bachelors of nursing. Is it easier to find jobs if you go to a certain school? Or is it more important to get good grades during nursing school (while the school name doesn't matter as much?)

The school doesn't matter. Grades can be beneficial sometimes, but mostly, places of employment look for experience or backgrounds of new grads. You'd be better off getting your ADN somewhere with previous experience as a CNA or ER tech versus a Bachelors degree and straight A's it almost seems these days. The particular university shouldn't matter for you, but if you do have the time, I would definitely get in somewhere as a student nurse tech if possible.

And good grades never hurt anyone, but getting straight A's in nursing school is near impossible, survival is the goal. : )

No, the school or the grades don't matter. What matters is the nursing license and the fact that the license is unencumbered. Prestige of program and academic honors do not matter until you decide down the line that you want to pursue career goals in education or in high profile jobs where impressions get you in the door. If you believe you will never aspire for anything "special", you will get by just fine with your clean and clear nursing license.
