Does it have to from a nursing degree?

I need to make up obstetrics hours like most Australian's trying to get to the USA. I have been going through multiple degree's in Texas for the BSN and the units are called :

- Reproductive Health Care

- Child and Adolescent Health Care

So i am wondering if i can just do the reproductive and sexual health unit of study at the university here, but its not for nursing its for medicine and primary health care, but nurses can undertake this unit for further knowledge.

(i already have; The child client, and child youth and family studies)

Can anyone shed any light?

CONTRACEPTION AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH (SEXH5405)

UNIT OF STUDY

This course aims to provide students with an understanding of fertility control, including hormonal and non-hormonal reversible contraceptive methods, emergency contraception and permanent methods of contraception. On completion of this unit, students should be able to: (i) Discuss the available options for controlling fertility, including hormonal and non-hormonal reversible contraceptive methods, emergency contraception and permanent methods of contraception; (ii) Understand the reproductive health needs of women from adolescence through to menopause; (iii) Understand the consequences of unintended pregnancy and describe the options available to women; discuss the impact of unsafe abortion in an international context; (iv) Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of age, culture, tradition, society, personal beliefs, disability and health on contraceptive choices; and (v) Understand the effect of sexual violence on reproductive health

Will you do clinical hours to go with the theory hours?

For that course there is no clinical, im hoping that i will get these hours in my internship which was 360 hours, and most definitely included a good 70% female care- ei pap smears, ante natal checks, post natal checks, new born immunization ect. Otherwise its off to midwifery for me lol

Most require clinical and theory hours done at the same time. California is a good example of this. At the end of the day only the state you plan on living and working in can say whether they will accept it or not
