Does the ATI study guide really cover everything for the TEAS V??

Published

I have been reading posts from posters who say that there was a lot of information on the acutal TEAS not covered in the ATI study guide(particularly the Science sections), others say the ATI study guide was enough. I just want to know if this is true.I've been studying for a month and Im worried that that there will be a lot of stuff on there not covered in the study guide for the Science section

bumpp anybody can answer?

In my oppinion it covers everything good enough except the science portion of the test. There is no way to cover what they will have on the test just by looking at the ATI sudy guide JMO, other's may feel differently. I dont know if it was nerves or what but I thought the test was harder than the book (even the reading and grammer)

I wish you the best of luck, I know exactually how you feel with your concerns about the test.

You can do this!

Well, how did you pass since it was much harder than the book??? it seems like a gamble

I was accepted to the spring program with a 67.8% which is (proficient). At my school I think they focus more on GPA than Teas scores. I just knew I wouldn't get in with a score like that but I did. At my school you have to score proficient, advanced or exemplary to be considered. I believe the average for students testing during the time I tested was 64% but I don't know of anyone that score below 70% on it.

You can do this, I think you are scaring yourself to death.

Ive been having major anxiety and I cant sleep sometimes because of this. Everyone is getting into the RNprogram but me. I studied everything I can but I am scared I wont do well cause everyone is saying its so hard. AT my school we have to score a proficient in every area...I dont know what the proficient percentage score is, the school wont tell me

I think that it's somewhere around 58-72% to score proficient.

Awww. I felt the same way all up to the minute before I took the test. But I had to tell myself that worrying won't change anything or just make it worse. Everyone always says it is so hard. It is not hard, it is tricky. I see your posts and you are doing the right things. Be confident. You're fortunate that you have to just proficient in every area. Here in GA, these schools want at least an 80 or above for the general score. Most people score proficient, but not many score beyond that. i believe the national avg is 70ish, which is proficient.

Well, I hope its leaning more towards the 58% side:) seriously, I want to be a nurse so bad.

Wow that's really competitive. :uhoh3: I had no idea that the standards were that high in GA

Ive never taken the teas but just how many answers do you need to get right to score a proficient out of 48 questions?? I've been thinking about this all day long...

I completely understand what you are feeling right now! :o I was just as nervous when I had to take the teas v test. I had been out of school for over 10 years and thought I might not be competent enough. I studied the manual very closely and then also did some extra algebra studies on the internet.

To be honest, I thought the algebraic expressions section of math was just a bit harder than what was in the manual. Also, reading was the first section of the test, which didn't help because I was quite nervous, and then to have to relax so that I could focus on what I was reading so that I could answer the questions correctly afterward. :uhoh3: Happy to report that I still scored really high on the reading comprehension and English language usage sections.

I ended up scoring a 69.3% which is proficient - almost 70%. Overall, I think most schools will consider you if you score at least proficient. If there is a lot of competition however, it may be a little more difficult. I was accepted into the nursing program however, and I also had to have an interview with the dean of nursing. He told me that there were a lot of applicants, and that he was focusing a lot on whether or not each person had a caring attitude and demeanor to them. There were probably a lot of applicants that scored higher than me on the teas, but they may not have made it through the interview process.

Because my nursing quarters are full-time and include pre-reques along with electives and nursing classes, it wouldn't have made sense for me to have to score so high on the teas v, when I hadn't even taken for example English comp, college algebra, or human biology yet. I think my school also took this into consideration. I have college algebra next quarter. :grn:

I think there is a point when you have to outsmart your being worried. Just say to yourself, the worried and anxious feelings inside of me want to disrupt me scoring well on the teas, and I'm not going to let them do it. O.k, that may sound a bit cheesy, but it did help me to get psyched up a little before taking the big test. :yelclap:

When do you take the test? Let us know how you do.

The odds are with you. You can do it! :hpygrp:

I feel as though it covered everything; and what I didn't recognize I just contributed to be part of the random 20 questions that ATI says won't be counted towards your score. Hope that helps
