I took A & P 1 & 2 during my LPN schooling. Excelsior was not going to accept them. I got A's and was not about to retake them, when they were only 3 years old. The problem was my LPN school was through vocational technical college and my transcript reflected clock hours instead of credit hours, so Excelsior said it didn't count (Even though my LPN clock hour credits did??). I got my school to write a letter stating the equivalence of the clock hours to credit hours and course content, etc, and told Excelsior I would absolutely not got to their school unless they accepted my A & P... They did!
Thanks for the answers. Getting Excelsior to do that was strong determination on your part I must say. Congratulations!!!

EC offers a test for A & P and Micro. I had both in LVN school, but tested out and got 6 hrs credit for A & P and 3 hrs for Micro. I just reviewed the books I had in nursing school and took the tests and got the credit.

The class I took for my LPN was technically "Intro to A&P", so it didn't count.

Heh. I didn't take A&P and they didn't require it. I had, however, taken Micro.
Thanks so much for all your responses. Suesquatch, I thought A& P was REQUIRED. Were the Exams difficult without having the a&P background?
No. I miss A&P daily in not knowing the correct terms for things, but it hasn't affected my ability to take the exams at all.
Just apply. Pay the $60 and find out what you need once and for all. They are really about getting people through in a non traditional way, not milking them and making them drag on and on forecer.
