I am looking for people who have worked for Doctors without borders. I am interested in one day working for them and I want to know what kind of experience they are looking for. Also I have taken Spanish classes, would I be better off trying to build on what little Spanish I know, or should I try to learn French.
I would like to hear any stories concerning their experience. Also if anyone has been a apart of an organization similar I'd like to hear about it.

I also really want to do this. I have looked into it a little bit and I know they look for surgical experience. I will be interested to see if anyone has any good info. DWB is a fantastic program, and I am hoping to get to do it or something like it next summer.

Have you checked out their website? (google it) It is really interesting and gives some first-hand accounts of nurses' experiences.
Thanks for the info, I have been to DWB website, but it didn't tell me what they are looking for. icyounurse where did you hear they are looking for surgical experience? I probably won't even try to apply until I have at least two years under my belt as an RN (I have just finished my first year) In the mean time I would really like to find people with first hand experience who can put me in the right direction. The website says they are very competitive but they don't give any real specifics besides experience in management.
If anyone has more info that would be great.

getting international medical experience is important also. i'm going on a volunteer medical trip 2x year, in between semesters while i'm in school because MSF is my ultimate goal... a little harder if you are already working, i know. i also volunteer within my local public health community. anything you can do to show that you are passionate about working with the underserved population will make you more competitive
sorry, i don't have first hand experience yet, but i've been basically stalking this organization for a 1.5 years... lol
the books that they publish are a great source of info also

I'm looking into someday doing DWB as well. Does anyone know if they only take BSN prepared nurses? Or do they take ASN/ADN and hospital diploma nurses as well? Thanks.

They do not only take BSNs. If you are an RN, you are eligible -- provided you meet the other requirements, etc!
