What's the worst Dr's service you've called. Mine was just the other day. I called the doctor about my pt's having a sore jaw (from new false teeth). The Dr called back so fast it left my head spinning. The Dr was yelling "WHAT HAPPENED, HE WAS FINE. HE WAS......" ect. It turned out the service paged "call 201-***-****, pt *** ***** is dead." :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire
I don't know where they got this idea as I never give any info out about my pt's to a service. EVER. I really don't know what to make of this!!!

I think someone at that answering service needs to be reamed a new one. that was highly inappropriate of them to page "pt is dead".
They had the correct name, but told the doctor the pt was dead????
You need to find out why they did that and report that to their supervisor. Completely inappropriate.

I had something happened to our patient on the med-surg unit where I work as a tech. We called a Dr because his 45 yr old male patients heart rate went into low 30s. The patient was not sleeping and he was not in the hospital for heart problems. The doctor called back upset, because we called him and only said to call him back if it gets worse. The charge nurse took the phone and said "Shall we call you when the heart rate gets down to 0?" I thought that was funny. Needless to say the Dr put the patient on tele and ordered some tests. I love it when the nurses stand up to the doctors as a patiens advocate.

Didn't have a problem with the service itself, but an off-duty answering service rep once called the ER on the physician's line to ask for nurse advice. I asked her how she got the number and she told me, got very huffy when I told her it was inappropriate.
