Do you think it is possible?

Published

I am in my second semester of nursing at HCC. It will be over in May and they do not give nursing classes in summer. I wish to take summer and graduate in December. Do you think it is possible to take summer at another school and come back to HCC in fall to take my last semester there? Or to continue at this new school? Did anyone do that? I am thinking about SPC. Are there any other schools in my area that have summer nursing classes?

I just want to be done with school earlier! And many of my co-students do too. Any suggestions are welcome

Hey,

I didn't think that was possible, but I could be wrong since every school is different. I thought once you are accepted into any nursing program you have to finish all studies in that particular nursing program, however I know that you can be accepted into another nusring program provided you have the required documents from the dean, and so forth, stating that you can return to their nusring program etc, but I'm not too sure how that works. A good idea would be to ask the school itself and the other school you are considering. Hope this helps!

I don't know about transferring back and forth, but I do know that SPC makes you take a 2000 level micro course and will not honor the 1000 level from HCC as your prereq. (That was an unpleasant surprise.) They also make you take stats. (bleeeehhhh!) To avoid those extra classes, you might as well wait the extra semester.

No, not possible. Sorry :( Trust me, I sat around last summer with my thumbs up my bum because I had nothing to do (I had just finished NPI)

One suggestion if you're interested. . .you could take the transcultural nursing trip to Ecuador that HCC offers. I went last summer and it was AMAZING. Or, if you get a nurse tech job you could just work a lot and learn a lot on the job.

I don't know if it is maybe it's different in FL (I live in WI) but we are allowed to take classes at a different school as long as it meets the requirements for our program. I'm currently taking a class online through a different school than i am enrolled in. The only downside to it is i have to make sure my transcript is sent to my school in time for graduation, which can unfortunately take some time for some reason, and that I cannot register when regular students at that school do. I have to wait until open registration starts before I can register.
