Do you really need a workshop to pass CPNE?

Hey Reebok, here are a few links for you that I frequented (and still do now and then). Great way to network with other students. I made so many great friends and it's nice to have the support. Lots of students on there trading supplies, bouncing ideas off each other, asking questions, setting up study dates, sharing experiences, and sending positive thoughts. You'll find alot of us alumni lurking around too, once you graduate it's nice to pass it forward, us EC students have to stick together since we don't have a classroom :-)

Thanks so much for all your input! I think I will take the online version of the prep. This is all I can do, I can't afford to go to another type of workshop, there are non in new england as far as I know. If there were one in driving distance I would do it for sure. I will be testing in NY, any succesful grads test in NY? I feel confident in my documentation skills (I am a homecare nurse ALL I do is document all night long) I just don't want my nerves to be the reason I fail (which hopefully I WON'T!) I am HOPING to take the beast this year. I have LS 2 on 2/8 then plan to take LS 3 in March then clep 3 classes (easy ones like Sociology etc.) then FCCA then CPNE--can it be done this year??!!! I feel like I have been in school forever!!

I tested in Syracuse, NY at Upstate University Hospital. I would recommend it to anyone, had an amazing weekend there, the CA was just wonderful and all my CE's were great too.

You can do it this year. You can take the FCCA and the CPNE when you are within 10 credits of your gen ed's being done. I had A&P and Micro to do when I applied for mine, and I took them over the summer before I took the CPNE.

Nice! I have Sociology and 2 humanities to clep before the CPNE. Once I am done with these last 2 nursing theory exams I will bang those out but when I study for a nursing exam I can't study anything else...not enough time. I am heading to the bookstore today to buy some texts....Mosby's care planning and some mental health nursing because I read this is 40% of my next exam (I hate psych nursing too) Thanks for all your info...honestly if it weren't for all nurses I wouldn't have even KNOWN about EC!!!! If you need Humanities take the Analyzing & Interpreting Literature CLEP. Easy easy 6 credits and it's only one exam, so you'd just have to do two exams. I used the REA book for Sociology and passed, it's not too bad at all.

what study guide did you use Beachie for the Lit exam? So instead of 2 humanities I woud just take that one 6 cred CLEp correct? I have never taken a CLEP exam before,all my pre-reqs were done at a local college and transferred. Thanks for the help.

Yep it's just one exam for 6 credits. It's pretty much a fancy literacy test. I didn't study for it. I think Loops used the REA book when she took it though. You can check on the College Board website to see where you can take the CLEP exam, it cost me $77 plus a proctor fee, so it was like $115 for 6 credits, not bad at all :-)

Just took Shari Taylor's work shop last weekend.. and Boy was it money well spent.. I know have the tools and tips to pass the beast.. now I just need to do the work..and apply what they taught me... Greg and Shari give you all they all they got,.,. and really want you to pass and help you get there. Why blaze a trail you have not gone before when you can have guide keep you out of the quick-sand. Again time and money well spent..

I noticed that YouTube has alot of videos showing CPNE procedures also. I'm going to check them out. I haven't yet but I figured I'd share the info if it hasn't already been.

I'm going to do Sheery's online workshop...anyone do the online version? I can't actually attend one. I feel comfortable with my skills, but some of them I almost never do anymore (IV piggyback, IVP) I do a TON of wound care and IM/SC injections and a TON of documenting and teaching/planning ( I am a VNA nurse and we are super busy and have some pretty complex cases) I just need to memorize how they want things done.
