I AM IN THE RN PROGRAM,,I HAVE ALL THE PRE-REQ DONE.

RIGHT NOW JUST WAITING TO GET IN TO THE CLINICALS.

BUT,,I GOT OFFERED A REALLY GOOD JOB,,GREAT OPPORTUNITY,,

AS A SOCIAL WORKER(it is a very stressfull job)

IF I ACCEPT THE JOB,,I WOULD HAVE TO STOP MY NURSING CAREER,,

IT WOULD BE IMPOSIBLE TO DO BOTH (fulltime school and work)

PLUSS,,I AM IN A VERY STABLE RELATIONSHIP,,AND DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT TO RISK IT FOR ANYTHING!!!

HE TELLS ME NOT TO WORK AND BE A FULLTIME STUDENT,,

THE PROBLEM IS THAT I DO NOT SEE MYSELF NOT WORKING!!

I'VE BEEN WORKING SINCE I WAS IN 8 GRADE.

WHAT DO I DO????sad.png

I worked night shift while attending nursing school. If you feel you must work, get a night shift job as a CNA.

Nursing is just as stressful as social work, if not more.

Specializes in Neuro, Neuro ICU.

how much does the social work job pay? would it compare to what you'd make as a nurse? I dont know about your job, but i've heard from a few friends who went to school for social work will only be making about 30K when as a nurse you could start out at about 40-50K depending on your area. Think of the long term & not the now.

I was offered a full time position at my job and took it, and went downt o part time for school. Now by the time i'm a nurse with an ADN it will have taken me 7 years. I should have gone to med school for that length of time! Needless to say, I regret my decision. Sure i made a couple hundred extra a pay check, but if you compare that to the paychecks i'll get as a nurse....NOT WORTH IT.

but then again, to each their own.

plus you could always work part time nights or weekends while in school

Social work has been consistently ranked as one of the lowest paying professions requiring a college degree. I think it would be foolish to give up nursing to become a SW. In my area, garbage-men make more than SWs.

Being a full-time student is work too! You are working towards a better future and it's harder than my desk job of 15 years was and requires more hours!

true. and plus,,i really dont see myself doing something else than that,,

i guess thats what i'll do. think of the long term and not the now.

i will have to star looking for a part time job next week

(anything i guess),,hopefully i'll find one. and register for next semester! =0)

thank u all,,
