Welcome

You are not applying for NCLEX but licensure to be a RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of that process. Experience is not required to go through licensure but you do have to meet requirements for foreign nurse. Would also suggest reading threads on Primer to working in the US and Retrogression You will be affected by it and would be beneficial of gaining experience whilst waiting as you are looking at a couple of years before moving to the US and someone with experience will do better with an employer than someone with no experience. Also no longer a guarantee passing licensure that you will get a visa for the US. Suggest plenty of reading in this forum

Thanks Silver dragon,

I am so sorry that I don't make myself clear in the previous thread.Currently I'm studying BSC nursing in USA.It is only 2 months since I started my BSC program here.Lots of my friends from my home country(Nepal) had successfully given Nclex exam and they are now working as a RN in US.But they had prior job experiences.

So I am confused:uhoh3: whether I should go through all the process of cgfns and nclex or continue studying. After reading the thread in the thread you suggested I came to know that different BON have different policy.Do I need to ask the BON itself

You still do not need nursing experience. The issues will be whether you can adjust status once you have completed your training and meet requirements with BON and pass NCLEX. At the moment there is no way to adjust your status and unless you maintain your student status would have to leave the US and after the flood of applications July/Aug 07 I can not see them reopening this avenue for a few years.

Thanks again,

Thank you so much for your promt reply.I understand that I have to maintain my status here. I came to hear from a friend that there are some Universities in USA which give credit hour of 140 (more or less)for those who had already done nursing course in their country. Are there any Universities who can give credit hour to me for my three years studies? If I do the CES,will it be helpful for a foreign nurse like me?

The CES is definitely a needed item, not sure how you started in a program without having that done. Unless you are starting from the beginning of the program and that makes no sense at all.\

If you have a three year diploma from your country, then your trancripts are evalutated and then they determine what level that you would be at in terms of completing a bridge program for the BSN.

But as Anna has mentioned above, attending school here now for nursing does not guarantee that you will be able to remain and get the green card when you finish your degree. You may qualify for the CPT or OPT during your training to be able to work; but that does not mean that you can remain afterwards if there are no visas available at that time.
