HI everyone,
I am a prospective nursing student who is current applying for Direct-Entry MSN programs focusing on becoming a PMHNP. I am starting to get in my head about whether or not I will get any acceptances. I would love to hear anyone's thoughts about my chances.
I have a BS in psychology and a BA in romance languages with a 3.85 undergraduate GPA. In my prerequisites for these programs I have A's in all but two I am anticipating a B+ in. I am worried about this hurting my chances. I have two years of experience as a behavioral health technician and I have volunteer experience relating to mental health. I am also BLS certified and have two published abstracts. I am applying to Vanderbilt, Yale, University of Rochester, MGH Institute, UT Austin, and Ohio State. Has anyone gotten into these programs? What do you think my chances are of at least one acceptance?

I did not apply to those programs, but I did do ABSN programs a few years ago. I do not think schools will care about your undergrad degree GPA; as long as you have a degree in any other area, you will qualify for ABSN or direct entry MSN. What matters is your pre-reqs' GPA. Also, each school may require an entrance exam; if that is the case, you must do as well as you possibly can.
Research each school to see what the acceptance rate is, and how many students they take each semester to gauge your chances.
Finally, if any of those are private schools, you will have higher chances of getting accepted because private schools usually are more lenient toward lower GPAs. Good luck!

Those schools will absolutely care about your grades. You have zero nursing experience and you plan to be an NP straight out? Good luck.
Hi windsurfer,
Based on your post history you come on here and spread a lot of negativity. Your response was mostly irrelevant to my post and was completely unnecessary. I wasn't asking for your opinion on direct-entry programs. Bring your negativity somewhere else. ☮️

I think your chances are excellent. Your grades are fine. Your psychology degree and behavioral health experience are a big plus. As others have suggested, find the acceptance rates for the schools you applied to. It is good to apply to 1 or 2 "safe" schools that where your chances of acceptance are high. Good luck!
