YES! We love nurses who will work weekends. The weekends are usually divided among the current staff. Most of the staff has already worked 5 days that week, so nobody wants to work the weekend too. Working 7 days leads to major burnout:madface:. So, a nurse who would cover the weekends is a "gift from Heaven"!! You will be the staff's favorite nurse and the management will pay you a premium for it.
Weekend positions are usually not advertised since its rare that someone wants to work just weekends. So I would call agencies that you are interested in and ask if they need a weekend nurse. The larger the agency, the more likely that they need some help for the weekends. Also, try home care companies that are associated with hospitals, they often get a lot of discharges on Fridays and have patients that need to be opened on a Saturday. Good Luck!
I work baylor weekend, sat and sun 8a-6p, works great for me as it gives me full benies and I get PTO w/5 we's off/yr. There is also an on-call nurse both days starting @ 4:30p , so usually I'm home early, occasionally I have to work late just b/c we ( my coworker and I) do the on-call from 8a til 4:30p ( one of us does sat, the other sun) so anything can come up and put us behind as we are a hospice/palliative care team, we have pretty sick pt's and do the pronouncements, and sometimes visits get lengthy depending on the problems and sx management. If I'm there til 6 or 7 (minus the charting) we put down for OT ( usually as a 12 hr day) and our manager is VERY supportive and encourages this as the case managers are so happy not to have to cover the weekends anymore. I found this job on careerbuilders.com, they are out there.

Hi,
I am wondering if most of you work m-f day hours? I am wanting to do homecare visits but am limited to only weekends. Do most places hire for just weekends? Any info would be great. Thanks
