Distance Learning Systems.

Published

I came across a text from a guy from the Distance Learning Services DSL asking if I was interested in their RN program. Im looking to get back into college to get my RN. I researched this program and am not sure how legit this program is. Has anyone done this program? If so, can you recommend?

Never heard of it. However, usually credible schools don't have to send out text messages to get people to apply.

I was contacted by the “school” about taking some classes towards my BSN, The guy called me immediately and said I would  need to fill out a basic application so they could get my transcripts. He also said that in order to start classes there is a $250 fee, I would need to provide a debit card number but it would t be used until after I agreed to start classes.  He sent me to documents to electronically sign on 2/10/21. I filled them out and sent them back. He said I would be getting a call from the academics department to discuss my Transcripts the cost of the classes I would need. They took the $250 from my account a few days later without ever contacting me about classes. I called the guy back who offered a refund and apologized up and down for the mistake. He said I could go ahead and try out a class and decide from there how I like it, again never talking to an advisor. I took 3 days of the algebra class and that was all I needed to know this place was not legit. I emailed the admissions guy and asked him to please remove me from the classes and I would like to permanently unenroll.  She sent me a short email back stating I would need to contact academics to drop the class and sent the me the name and number of a bank to contact.  I called the bank immediately and they stated that they had funded the school a $10,000 loan in my name in the 10th. I knew nothing about this loan or that it even existed. They took all of my personal Information and sent a “contract” with my name in it to this “bank” that happens to be in the same town as the “school” and only has 4 employees. Check out the BBB page, I’m definitely not the first person to have had this happen. And now the school refuses to let me “unenroll” and the bank won’t return my calls.

OMG!! This makes me furious.. I feel so bad for you. $10K loan in your name without your knowledge.. Crap. They should be shut down. Thanks for sharing. Do you know of any online bridge programs that are legit?

I don't, I've been searching got awhile. I know that Nightingale College has an online program but I don't know the specifics.

The unaccredited "school" and the "bank" are owned by the same people, same building. Google it. Biggest SCAM

Distance Learning Systems and Ben Franklin Finance are running a scam against nurses and potential nurses. I am a paramedic . They can't continue to do what they are doing when all we want is to become a LPN or RN

Don't chose distance learning to get your nursing degree. It goes by dsii. It's fraudulent. The classes they offer do not transfer to any colleges but ones that close the program in a year or are non existent. Reputable nursing schools do not take their classes. The professors are terrible and they won't refund any money if  you can't find a school to transfer to. They lie. Don't waste your money

They trap you in a contract that you cannot get out of. They should not be allowed to do this.

They continue as long as people continue to enroll and no entity stops them. This is why I tell anyone to thoroughly investigate the school they plan to attend, especially if it's not a well known entity to them, such as a state school
