Direction to perfom Covid test

Published

I recently purchased some rapid tests from my friend who works in a lab (FDA EUA authorized) for use on my family and friends. They've told others about me and now I'm being asked to test others. Can I perform these types of tests on other people who might pay for it? I am an LVN. Would this be something I can even do independently in the state of California?

Thank you so much for any help in this matter.

You bought some Covid rapid tests from a friend who works in a lab?  Is this friend an authorized distributor or retailer of Covid tests?

Yes. Authorized distributor. Are you asking this to know how to respond to my question? It just doesn't seem relevant to what I need an answer to. Thank you.

To perform this sort of testing you need to be affiliated with a lab, clinic, practitioner, etc that has accreditation that meets CLIA certification requirements or need to have that accreditation personally.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I greatly appreciate it. I've heard about becoming CLIA certified, I wasn't sure if I'm able to become certified as an independent administrator of the test. I will definitely look into that now.

Thanks again! ?
