Hello! Hope you're all doing well.
I have a rather straightforward question - after graduating, did any of you guys with an MSN in nursing education have problems with job availability? I'm seriously thinking about going into nursing education and was just curious about the job outlook in this profession. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks! :)

The answer (as it is so many times) is "It depends". Are you wanting to go into clinical education (hospital based)? If so, the opportunities with an MSN are largely predicated on being aggressive in pursuing it as a BSN-prepared nurse.
Academia is a little different. You could easily get a position in an ADN or LPN/LVN program upon graduation. The pay is going to be about 2/3 of what you make in a hospital. But the predictability of schedule and role are desirable- so it is a trade-off.
Decide which role you want and ask around!

As mentioned before, really depends where you want to work. Clinical education in hospitals are pretty sought after and hard to come by, usually. As for academics, if you want a nice tenure position, keep in mind that you may need to keep going for your doctorate degree. Start networking now to feel out the job market in your area. Good luck!

I work in PD in a hospital setting. I had multiple job offers prior to completing my program, but I have since learned that there aren't nearly as many MSN prepared acute care educators available as one might think. Quality applicants are few in my area.
Thank you guys so much. I really appreciate the feedback. I would like to teach in a college setting and I would not mind at all continuing school to get my doctorate. That's the plan. :)

I would like to find a part-time job teaching an online nursing course. Where would be the best place to look for this type of job? I just got my MSN and am ready to get started!

Look on indeed. You can also check the "careers" sections on school websites if you go directly to sites of schools that interest you. Do you have experience teaching online? Many/most require that.

This. I don't know of any schools that hire for online work with zero experience.
I guess I can understand that experience would be required. I will have to start looking in another direction and once I have some experience I can go back to that option of teaching online.
