Different prerequisites needed for different schools

U.S.A. Texas

I'm looking to get into a nursing school for a BSN and I want to have many options so I can be sure that I'll get into some school. But it seems like every place has different prereq.'s!! It's kind of crazy... anyone have any experience with this?

I have found that public universities have the most similar pre-requisite courses, sometimes with only two or so courses varying between schools. The best thing to do is research to find out which courses are needed by the greatest number of universities in your area (if you want to stay in a particular place) and prioritize what you take based on that.

Everyone who has applied to multiple schools has pretty much dealt with this. Do the pre-req's for your first school of choice and apply. If you do not get in, use that time to knock out one or two more to your second choice, then apply again to the first choice and to your second choice as well. Etc etc etc.

aaah I guess that is what will have to be done. Feels like a waste of time though, but I guess it'll be worth it in the end!

Not really a waste of time. A lot of the other schools' prerequisites are still applicable to more advanced degrees. And because it is so difficult to get in to ANY nursing school right now, keeping yourself going just makes sense. Very few get in on their first try to their first choice. Good luck with your studies!
