Did your nursing program require letters of recommendation?

I'm looking at some of the accelerated BSN programs and it seems a lot of them want, not only recommendations, but letters from past employers won't even work. They want you to have a special form filled out by your reference! Are most programs like this or am I just looking at the really competitive ones?

Yes mine did. Although my program is a direct entry/accelerated Masters in Nursing program, so I dont know if that makes a difference. Anyways, I needed three letters or recommendation.

I also was interviewed as well.

So for the most part past letters that you've collected from emplyers/professors will not work? You need special forms?

My understanding is that letters of recommendation are not meant to be seen by the person they're written for. How do you still have them, unless they're being held for you at a school you previously attended?

Well I've gotten letters from a few teachers in the past and my last employer. They're just general letters of recommendation....

You could always ask if those letters will work. I used the form letters, but never thought to ask if I could just use a reference letter.
