Today I found out my husband was returning from Afghanistan tomorrow , sooner than I expected 2days
early, I placed my time off request , too be there when he arrives . it was denied , reason being I'm the only provider there on Friday . I was given my 90 day notice in September their reasoning that between me and the Md. we were not busy to justify my position. I called the Vice CEO and told her flat out that I would not be in tomorrow that my husband was coming home and I needed to be there when he arrived , she told me she couldn't approve the time off but if I called in sick there was nothing they could do. Then a comment was made that if I was a staff nurse that my behavior would not be tolerated , by one of the office nurses. So glad I'm leaving . Sorry had to vent

Yea what a rude coment by the office nurse. It would be nice to see how she felt if she was layed off, her husband was coming back from a war zone aaaannnd she gets her request DENIED!! Anyways dont worry with anything tomorrow but your husband!

And tell your husband thank you for his service!!!!!! :)
Thank you my husband is retired military and volunteered to go there as a engineer for one year. He left one month after our son deployed, never once in this year did I ask for favoritism because of my situation . Today was the last straw.

Wow crazy! I would have been ticked off too! My husband is medically retired due to injuries, I know what that separation feels like, some people just don't get it! I hope you enjoy your time with your hubby and I'd say screw them for what they did. I hope you find a more supportive position elsewhere!

Thank your family for their service....I wouldn't want to work for a company that didn't respect that.
Thank you all for your words of support. I did not go in that day and was there at the gate when he got off the plane. As far as the job search , I am in NHSC loan repayment status and since my cert is in Pediatrics it has been impossible to find a site near me that needs an PNP. So far my choices are Miami, LA , NYC and the eastern shore in MD. I have been offered the position in MD pending background checks etc. It is 900 miles away after much discussion and prayer my husband and i decided it would be in our best financial interest for me to take the job there rather than owe NHSC 100,000.00 to get out of my remaining 2 year contract. The new position would more than cover my living expenses. The base pay and bonus are much more than my current salary and benifits. I hate to be away from my husband again, but at least we will be in the same country and I have family and friends out there as well. I like to believe that god closes a door for a reason. This past year with out my husband has shown me how strong i really am. Thanks you all
