debt

How much debt has nursing school put you in and do you believe it was worth it

Featured Replies

I'd rather not say a specific dollar amount. But, between my fiancee (who is a grad. student) and I, we have a lot of student loan debt. I have a degree in History, so I am carrying that debt as well.

Education should be free.

I will have about $26,000. when I'm finished with my BSN. Yes, I think it's worth it for an education. My car cost more than that!

I'm fortunate enough to have my parents pay for college so luckily I'm only out cash for gas, lunches, etc. I have to say though, even if I was paying the 1400-1800 semester tuition for my community college ADN program I would say it's well worth it. If you manage your money right and get a decent paying job when you graduate you could realistically pay off that type of debt in a year, not sure how much debt your looking at though.

Clinicals hands down my man. Some of the teachers can be rough in clinicals but I've found that if you're not scared of them then they let you do your work and don't really hassle you. Nursing teachers are like sharks. Fear is like blood to them, they smell it and you're as good as dead. I think being a man has helped as well, women are so jealous and hard on each other. The teachers (mostly women) seem tougher on the women students, with the male students they are only tough if you're not doing your job.

So for clinicals all you have to do is your job?

So for clinicals all you have to do is your job?

Basically. Just treat it like an actual job, don't mess around, chit chat, act unprofessional, etc. and you'll be fine. Know your patients disease process, labs, medications, and the plan for the day and never lie to a teacher. If they ask you something you don't know don't ******** an answer, tell them you don't know, but you'll find out.

I will be starting the clinicals for my BSN program in January. I have one more semester of classes beginning next week. Then I have 4 consecutive semesters of clinicals and nursing classes and I will be done.

I will finish my entire BSN in 3 1/2 years so it can be done. I'm looking forward to clinicals.

I honestly do not know how much money I have sunk into education over the years. Since I did not reach my minimum educational goal, I have to state that no, it was not worth it. If I had all the money that I put into education with no return, I could have paid off my home and I would not have lost it. I also would not have to be scrounging now for the next paycheck, wondering if and when it is going to arrive.
