DEA Question

I recently accepted a position and will be at a hospital and a clinic. How does applying for my DEA work for this?

You could look at your State Board of Nursing. Some require that you apply with them first and have collaborating agreement on file. I am also a new grad and doing NPI and DEA. Post what you find out please.

This is excellent advice - found on my state BON website it's very clear:

1. DO NOT apply for a DEA registration prior to being issued prescriptive authority by the Board of Nursing.

As far as a DEA registration for each location... that's not necessary as long as your responsibility will only be prescribing. As found on the DEA website Q&A page:

Question: Are separate registrations required for separate locations?

Answer: A separate registration is required for each principal place of business or professional practice where controlled substances are stored, administered, or dispensed by a person. If a practitioner will only be prescribing from another location(s) situated within the same state, then an additional registration is not necessary.

Thanks guys, I ended up just calling them and got it for the clinic I'm at which covers the hospital as well.
