Am I setting this up right?
Dopamine 800mg in D5W 250ml at 3mcg/kg/min . Patient weighs 85kg. How many ml/hr would you set the pump at?
I got 5 ml/hr????

Yes. That is rounded up from 4.78. Do you need to see how it is worked by dimensional analysis?
Yes. I would love to see how you set it up. Here is how I did it. I know there is a simpler way though.
3mcg x 85kg x 60 min x 250ml x 1mg
divide top by bottom
kg x min x 1 x 1hr x 800mg x 1000mcg
with my answer of 5 ml/hr ( which didn't quite look right )

3 mcg/kg (dose desired) x 85 kg/1 (patient's weight) x 250 mL/800 mg (dose on hand) x 1 mg/1000 mcg (conversion factor) x 60 minutes/1 hour (conversion factor - problem gave you mcg/kg/min) = 4.78125 mL/hour, rounded up to 5 mL/hour
Daytonite, thank you very very much!!!!
