I spent 16 yrs on night shift before switching to day shift. Even though I was able to stay awake at night and sleep during the day, it takes a toll on your body. I alway felt like I was in a fog. I never felt rested when I woke up. Now that I am working day shift, those problems have gone away. The problem is that most nursing nursing positions that you will be qualified to apply for will be night positions.
