I have recently been hired to work nights on a CCPU floor, and Im very excited. Im only in to 2 days of orientation and I feel myself getting more and more nervous. Its almost information overload, and I havent even hit the floor yet! I am the only one in my orientee group who has no hospital experiance at all, and I feel it shows. The charting is unreal compaired to my previous LTC job. The longer this orientation goes the more scared I think I am getting. Luckily everone seems really nice so far.

DO not get ahead of yourself. Just focus on one day at a time and the the learning for that day. This will keep the focus on the learning and keep your anxiety in check. Tell yourself some positive affirmations if anxiety starts to creep in such as, " If others can do this then so can I" and, "I am not alone and there will be resources available if I need them". It will get easier as you build your knowledge base.
