My turn to pay it forward...
Took the Nclex-RN today and literally danced out of the room. I know that nobody leaves the room happy, but I did!! I got 75 questions, and I KNOW I passed!! I did the PVT and got the good pop up, but thats not why I'm so confident...
Heres what I did:
Kaplan did not work for me. (couldn't follow the videos) and their decision tree confused me more than anything, studying random things on my own didn't work either..
HURST REVIEW is what worked!!!
Marlene (the instructor) is Hilarious and just put everything together for me. she is absolutely right, because if you know your content, you can answer almost any question. I could almost hear her voice as I chose my answers today. If you can put up the $300, I would highly recommend it!!! Esp, if you didn't pass the first time using other reviews. My only regret about Hurst was that I did not have it sooner. I only had it for 2 weeks before my exam, and it still made the difference. The majority of my questions were related to her teachings.
I got about 15 SATA, about 7 Medication questions, Priority, tons of infection control, and nutrition. I got 2 exhibit style questions and even got an EKG strip!!!
You might think I'm crazy but I believe in God and the power of prayer, so on Wed. I wrote a 3-paged letter addressed to God, put a stamp on it, and literally put it in the mailbox! (Postal workers will probably think I'm nuts, lol) and sighned it as YOUR DAUGHTER, RN.
This morning I felt soo relaxed, I went and got my hair done, went to church for an hour, and went to Pearson Vue. I scheduled my test for 1pm, so that I wouldn't be rushed, and in case I couldn't fall asleep the night before. I was soo relaxed when I went in there that it started to scare me. lol
I really think that confidence and anxiety play a big part on how well you can process the questions.
sorry, this is sooo long, i'm just so excited. cant wait to post my official results!!!! yyyaaaayyyy me!
Praise God!!
and thank you to all those at allnurses that provided support and information when needed. :redbeathe

Congrats to you!! I, too, left Pearson feeling I had passed. I couldn't stop smiling! (Just got my license in the mail today :)) You are right about anxiety playing a role in how you process and answer the questions. We've all been studying for this exam throughout nursing school! The knowledge is there and we know how these questions are worded. We just have to have confidence in ourselves and go with instinct! Again, congrats!!! :)

Congrats to you! I have faith that you passed because you are so sure you did! Back when I took the test in 1999, I had to wait 2 weeks for my results and it was excruciating! I too got 75 questions and I left there feeling sure I passed. I'll be honest though, as the days passed waiting for my official results, I talked myself out of passing about 100 times! LOL I checked the mail one day and there it was, my official nursing license. I was so proud that day. It was one of the biggest accomplishments I had ever achieved. Good luck to you and welcome to the nursing PROFESSION! Get ready for the most difficult and rewarding career I can think of.
Sincerely,

Congratualtions!
AM taking my NCLEX soon too..
Which one did you get? the online? any insight on their online review?
am choosing between the live and online.. hope to hear from you....
once again, Congratulations!!!!:)
Thanks everyone!! Yes, Hurst is the only thing that helped me, in addition to what I've learned in school. I did the online review, which allows me to watch the videos as much as i need to (only watched them twice, bceause of the time I had) and you still get all the handouts and questions just like the review. Hope that helps.
ohh, and i also paid for 5 weeks of that ncsbn learning ext. didn't like it too much. the questions were good, but the content was very boring (I don't learn well like that). didn't even finish half of the program, wasted money.

Congrats! I agree with you about everything you said about HURST. They do a great review! I was terrified that I was going to fail NCLEX since I didn't score too well on my predictor tests before taking the review course. I took HURST and passed my first time a couple weeks ago.
