CVS NY Application

Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post this question, but if not, hopefully someone can redirect me. I am a 2nd Degree Bachelor's student who has just finished my educational component in Toronto, Canada. All I have left is my last semester (Independent placement) that runs from end of June until beginning of September. After this I plan to move to New York City as my fiancee lives there. I want to start the process with CFGNS asap as I want to ensure I can work there as soon as possible. Does anyone know if I can start the application now? As mentioned, I'm done all classes, I just have my final clinical placement left. My official date of graduation here is October '09, which I will come back for. Also, in Canada, you can only write the boards in October and Feb. I plan to write them here this October because I want to be licensed here and in NY. Also, can I write the NCLEX before writing the CRNE? If I can write the NCLEX first, I rather focus on studying for it throughout the summer since it is a priority to be able to work in NY.

Any help would be much appreciated :nurse:

hi, i'd like to hear your suggestions on what i probably should do.

i have received a letter from CGFNS regarding my CVS stating that they have submitted to New York my documents.

where can i inquire regarding the status of my application?

contact information of State Board of Nursing in NY would be really helpful.

when should i take the required the exam for Health Care workers regarding Child abuse?

any suggestions where to take this online?

Have you submitted an application to NY BON. You still need to submit one even though CES is done.

All contact information should be on the NY BON website as are information regarding taking the courses online

i have, in fact i first applied to NY BON by following the instructions on the link above.

but after a month, i knew that i had to also lodge an application for CVS, during the period i was waiting for CVS to complete, i received a letter from NY BON that, they have received my application and that they are waiting for the requirements to be completed.

should i let someone give them a call and personally inquire the status of my application? do they also entertain email inquiries?

also, should i take the now the required child abuse coursework exam for health care workers?

any inputs where i can take it online?

If you look at the link I gave you there is a link that lists acceptable/approved course providers and will state there online or not plus fee.

If they have only just sent your CVS then you need to give it a bit of time for them to review it. From members posting it takes approx 2 months to get approval from BON
