Hello,
I was looking to talk with other students in the same boat. Doing excelsior for LVN to RN. Here's my story, I am in California (YES i know it's not taken here) but will be relocating to better use my education. Seeing that I'm out here and will be till i'm just about done I haven't come across many people who are in this program or even really know about it.
So... it'd be nice to talk with people on the same track...
and just to repeat myself... I am well aware that the beast California will not accept my RN education and therefor would not grant me licensure. As stated, I will be moving close to the end of my schooling.
Look forward to meeting y'all!!!

Hi there. I did the program 3 years ago. Which state are you planning on moving to? There are some states that seem as rigid as California. Anyway, if you are disciplined, I think you would LOVE the program! Look for posts by LunahRN. There are some informative links there. I think she keeps those updated. Lots of helpful posts from other students here, too. Also, there are some links at the bottom of the main Excelsior College page here on ALLNURSES. Good luck with the program.

I am currently an enrolled student. I find that if you do not schedule to take the exam that it is harder to study. I think it is a good program but you just can not have test anxiety. And the practice exams are always helpful.

I just finished Transitions, working on studying for Safety... I am from CA, so I hope one day they get their heads out their butts and accept it again, but anyhow they are not the best state for a new RN anyways... My friend (and several others in his RN class) was a RN working as a CNA (because he didn't get his LPN first) and didn't get a job for 2 years, and when he did it was at a desperate home health agency with me, getting paid the same rate that I was getting paid as a LVN there. CA is going down hill... what test are you on? I am taking this test before the end of the year... I am going to do 2-3 tests a month because I will be in FCCA by March and I am doing both at the same time... challenging, but I want to test in summer...let me know where you are in your studies...

I am currently enrolled in Excelsior. I hope to be done with the FCCA next week and began to submit my paperwork for the CPNE. Where are you currently in your program?
Well congrats to that!!! I am just starting, I took transitions and didn't really study and barely passed with a C, so I think I better step it up... I had to redo A&P due to mine being 8 years old, and I studied 2 days and got a B, so I went in thinking oh this will be a breeze, but I think transitions was pretty tough and very boring... I am using my husbands GI bill to get through the program, and now that I know how they do the billing I am going to have to study, register and test within the same week, or it will eat up all of my GI bill... you are way ahead of me though hopefully I will be in fcca by March... did you do one at a time, or both? I just want to knock them both out since they will take 8 weeks each I don't want to wait 16 weeks by doing one at a time... I wish you the best on your CPNE... where are you wanting to take it... I am going to go to the first available one, cause I want to test in summer. I am in Ft. Hood, so if I can get TX good, if not GA would be nice, I have family in ATL... let me know how you do on your FCCA... is that go at your own pace too, or does it follow a curriculum and you have to take the entire 8 weeks?

I am in Houston so doing the cpne in Lubbock would be ideal but I am open to other regions too.

Do you have a CPNE date? I too am doing them at the same time, I am on track for March FCCA, I have 4 tests left, and am doing Repro next week, so then LS1-3 plan is to be done by the 2nd week of February! I am anxious to finish!!!
