hmmm. I THINK this is it
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0
So say if you got a total of 6 grades We'll say A, B, B, C, C, C.
Going by the letter=number thing, add 4+3+3+2+2+2. Total for that is 16.
16 divided by 6= GPA of those particular grades

One more step to Marie's.
Use those values for the grade you received, but multiply each one by the number of credits for the class.
example
A&P for me was a 4 credit class, received an A in A&P I, A- in A&P II (the A- is worth 3.70)
Grade****Credits**Total
4 _____X ___4____= 16 A&P I
3.70 ___X___4____= 14.8 A&P II
4______X___3____= 12 Biology
2______X___4____= 8 Algebra

13.7 grades********50.8 total
50.8/13.7 = 3.71 GPA
I through in a couple of other grades to give a better example.
Woogy

It all depends on the school, I just posted this same advice on a previous post in the pre-nursing forum, check it out. Hope this helps!
