CSUN ABSN 2015

I noticed that there wasn't a thread posted for CSUN ABSN 2015 yet so I thought I'd start one I'm currently a student at CSUN finishing my BA in psychology (I will be graduating this December). I can hardly wait to start nursing school! I wanted to start this thread so us CSUN applicants can get to know each other.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I sent an email to someone from admissions and found out that they will be sending admission decisions in late March - beginning of April 😞 I was hoping for early - mid March but oh well...I'm so nervous 😣

did they say how many applications were received this year?

No, I didn't ask that though. Sorry 😞

Hi! Do you mean you got called in for an interview or you received an email saying they are reviewing applications? Thanks! :) And congratulations if it's for an interview! =D

Eep, I don't know how to reply with the post I'm replying to included... (--')

Hello! I'm currently in Cohort 15. I emailed someone on this thread, but I'm assuming my email wasn't received. If you have any question's regarding the CSUN's ABSN program itself, I'd be happy to answer your questions (just give me some time to answer d/t homework/clinical). I'm not too sure about the current requirements, however, you can find that on the website.

I wish you all the best!

P.S. Once you find out you've made it into the program, I can give you all some tips and pointers to get you started :)

My email is [email protected]

Thanks, Lorebeth! Hopefully we all receive good news and then we can bug you... ;) Good luck in your studies!

Thanks for this update, Elizabeth! It helps somewhat. :) Waiting is so nerve wracking!

@ caitlintaylorr . I looked into U of Hawaii, but I realized their out of state tuition is outrageously expensive! 80,000 per yr and it doesn't award a BSN after the first year.

@iavanna. no, it was an email which said our application was complete. did you receive an email confirming that your application was complete?

Hi there, I also applied for the CSUN ABSN program. Hope to be hearing from them soon, it seems like forever ago that we first applied! Best of luck to everyone.

I second Lorebeth, I am also in cohort 15. One of the few guys in our cohort. The best advice I can give that Lore hasn't covered is be very flexible. Our cohort had difficulty at first with the constantly changing dates and classes. If you're really looking forward to being a nurse, it's definitely worth it, however if it's just for a job, you'll have some difficulty.

If you haven't figured out what kind of studying works for you, figure that out now. Are you a visual, auditory, or tactical learner? Based on that, you may want to consider buying supplemental study guides. I don't recommend the "supplemental books" that the school recommends, however I have found that many of us really depend on "Nursing Made Incredibly Easy" and Mosby guides.

Lastly, if you have any questions as well I am more than happy to help. You can email at [email protected]

I think I've been accepted?! I received a letter from CSUN yesterday that said 'congratulations we would like to offer you admissions'. Did anyone else get one yet? I've noticed some people have been talking about an interview, so I'm a little confused! I really hope I'm in, the wait has been excruciating!

Did you also receive an email? Because I've received emails that say admissions decisions are going to be emailed to us. I received a letter from CSUN but it was to offer admission to the university, not the actual nursing program. Does the letter you received say "admission to the university does not guarantee admission to the nursing program"? They will not be doing interviews this year. I double checked with an admissions person. That would be great if your letter was for admission to the nursing program. Is it addressed from the nursing department?
