CSULB FALL 2019

Hey everyone!

I know its a bit early but time flies fast and I pretty nervous so I'm sure other people are too. Is anyone applying to CSULB this upcoming semester for fall 2019? Just wanted to make this so we can talk about goals, nerves, points, and ask questions! Also, if there are any current or past CSULB nursing students...any advice? Hope to hear from u guys!

Hi all!

I got off the alternate list a few weeks ago and am waiting to find out more about the program at orientation! So incredibly exciting! I’m a transfer student from a community college in Los Angeles! The only thing I am worried about is housing. I have no clue where to start and because I am a transfer I’m worried about finding roommates! Anyone in the same boat? Congrats to everyone accepted and can’t wait for orientation!

Yay congrats, can’t wait for orientation! I’m also worried about finding roommates and am planning on moving mid-late July.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of dress code for the nursing orientation? Or do we just go dressed however?

No idea, I hadn't even thought of that haha. I'm thinking they'll give us more details closer to the date of orientation since we're still waiting to hear about the location of it!

Does anyone know if theres a fb page either for class of 2021 or for nursing? I thought I remember seeing someone saying something about one but I cant seem to find anything besides "CSULB students"

I remember someone mentioned that someone should make a group on Fb, but I don't think anybody did yet.

Do any of you know some pros and cons of joining either the semester or trimester cohort? I'm still thinking about which one I want to do.

The major pro of being in semester is that you have the summer off, so that you can have that break to return back to life/family/work/etc. However, you graduate later than the trimester cohort. I believe you'll be in the program for around 2 1/2 years.

The major pro of being in trimester is that you graduate quicker. You're only in the program for about 1 1/2 years. Another pro is that trimester people often remain in the same hospital throughout the entire program so they can get used to being at that facility instead of being switched around to different hospitals every semester like semester people usually have to do. Major drawback though is that there's no summer. i guess some people prefer this because they can quickly finish the five semesters, but i know some people were afraid of being burned out if they were put in the trimester program.

When my cohort did orientation, we had no dress code. Some people showed up in casual wear, some people showed up in formal clothes. However, we did get to try on uniforms at the very end of the orientation to find our ideal size, so I'd recommend not wearing something that requires a lot of effort to take off/put back on. ?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any of you got in with a W on your transcript. I am applying for next semester and I have one W from several years ago for a class that isn't a prerequisite for GE or science prerequisite. I was just wondering if I even have a chance of getting in for that reason alone. Thank you and congratulations to all of you who got in.

Hi Nina85,

Yes I got in with a W in a non pre-req class, you should be fine as long as your others grades are good.

Hi subarualex

thank you for your response and sharing your experience, which comes as a huge relief.

Hi everyone! I'm a 5th semester student in this program and here to answer all of your burning questions!
