Hi I am planning to apply to the nursing program at csulb. I was wondering what would be the equivalent of chem 140(general, organic and biochemistry) at csula? Because I was told it wasn't chem 151 which is fundamental chem. THANK YOU very much if you are able to help me with this question.

You need to take CHEM 151 and 152 at CSULA.

Thank you that really helped! I was wondering if I would be able to apply to the CSULB Nursing next month to be part of the 2012 cohort since I haven't taken CHEM 152. But I will be taking CHEM 152 during Spring 2012 quarter.
Yes, you can apply with one prerequisite in progress, but they will count it as a "C." It's really hard to get in as a transfer due to budget cuts, and that "C" will surely make you a less competitive applicant. I suggest finishing CHEM 152 first, then apply. You are applying to CSULA's nursing program, right?
Yeah I am going to apply to the CSULA nursing program in a month. My prerequisite science GPA is about 3.9, but if I calculate in the C for the in progress chem 152 my prerequisite science GPA drops to a 3.62. Which I don't think is good enough for CSULB damn..I am a bit confused about what to do now..it seems most CSU Nursing programs require an organic chem which I don't have since I havent taken CHEM 152. What would you do in this situation? Thanks
Based on your high science GPA, I'm going to assume your GE GPA is high as well. Therefore, I think you have a great chance of getting accepted at your own school and you won't necessarily need to apply to "back-up" schools... unless you personally want to transfer to another CSU. As far as CSULB goes, your best bet would be to take CHEM 152, then apply the following semester so your high GPA isn't negatively skewed with that "C" grade.
Thanks for all the help. Yeah my first choice would have been CSULB. But it would feel a lot better to know that I apply to multiple schools so if I get rejected by one it wouldn't all be over. So far I've found that I can still apply to CSU Bakersfield and Fresno. I was wondering if you knew any other schools that doesn't require organic chem that I could apply too? Thanks again
Out of curiosity, since CSULB is your first choice, why didn't you start there from the beginning?
And sorry, I'm not familiar with the requirements of other California nursing programs besides CSULB. You can also look up CC nursing programs, although I have a feeling you're only interested in CSU BSN programs.
I got a scholarship for CSULA and didn't want to pass it up. And when I looked at prerequisites from all the different CSUs I just assumed chem would be the same for all of them since all the other prerequisites were the same.
For someone whos clueless you sure know a lot haha

I'm applying at CSULB as a transfer for fall 2012 but I'm from a cc
Try to take it during winter
You can have one class in progress
Have you taken all your courses?
I'm going to try to take it at a cc, but if I can't then I can try to take it during Spring 2012 at my school which starts in March. Would that be too late?

Ahh, I see. Yeah, it can get really complicated. Is there any way you can take it this fall so that you can apply in the Spring?
HAHA! I'm just familiar with CSULB since it's the school I attend.
