CSUCI FALL 2017

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm applying to the fall 2017 program and wanted to start a thread in case anyone had questions for each other, compare points, etc. This way we can all stay updated with this stressful process! :)

Ah me too!

I just took my teas a couple days ago:

Science GPA = 3.8 (10 pt)

Overall GPA = 3.60 (8 pt)

TEAS = (10 pt) ** darn reading -___-

BS degree from CSUCI = (4Pt)

Volunteer Experience = +200 (3 pt)

High School Program = not sure if they'll be accepting it b/c it's been a long time (2 pts)

Total = 35-37 points

**I don't know if this is true, but I heard they try to have a diverse cohort like people having done military work, having a previous degree, some from CC, some from CSUCI, CNAs, etc. (?) I spoke to a parent in my class at a CC and she said her daughter was pre-nursing, and she had a 4.0 and everything but she was rejected from CSUCI and is now at a UC merely studying biology. I mean I don't know the rest of her application, but it shocks me to hear they were rejected. From others, I heard that they've had someone who had a 29 in the fall 2015 cycle get in to the program. I'm wondering how do they filter the applicants and do they actually look at all ~400 applicants?

Hi guys!

Turned in my application recently and am so excited/anxious. This is definitely my dream school but it is also intimidating to see how big the application pool is.

I have a total of 36 points.

4.0 in prerequisite courses (10 out of 10 pts)

3.82 overall GPA (6 out of 6 pts)

English & Reading TEAS (6 out of 6 pts)

Math TEAS (5 out of 5 pts)

Volunteer Experience (+200 is 3 points)

CSUCI student (6 points)

Unfortunately not fluent in spanish/ASL, no military experience, and don't have a bachelors degree, yet!! ;) I really hope I am competitive enough to get in.

Best of luck to all! :)

Looks like you're gonna get in ;)

I'm almost going to submit my application, just waiting for my CC transcripts to arrive and mail everything. Quick question: did you submit your online application before you submitted your documents? or should I submit all of the documents then submit my online application?

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools / Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Thank you kmalone! I hope so. Looks like you're gonna get in too ;)

I submitted online app first then submitted additional documents like transcripts. I am not sure if any method is preferred but I liked turning in the application first.

Hope we can be classmates, best of luck! :)

Has anyone receive confirmation of supplement material being received as well as TEAS scores? I mailed my application last week, but it would be nice to be reassured that my application made it safely lol.

Hi applicants,

I'm applying with 36 points as well! This is my top choice school as well! Good luck to everyone! I hope we all get in!

@ kmalone - I haven't received email notifications confirming that my supplement materials were received, but I did submit my application in person. I did email them about the TEAS score box being unchecked and they said it would be "checked" once they've reviewed my application. Today, the checkbox is finally checked; so I'm assuming they received my materials. I would contact CSUCI just to be sure.

@krisphil18

How long after you turned your application in did the TEAS checkbox become checked? I turned my stuff in in person last Thursday and the TEAS checkbox is yet to be checked so I'm curious?

Also, on your guys application for the estimated points that the application gives you, is it right on with what what you assume your total to be? For example, you calculate 35 points and the estimated points show 35 points? Mine seems to be 4 points less than I calculated and I'm curious as to why?

@ runstohousebeats - I don't remember definitively as to how long b/c I wasn't checking the status of my application everyday lol. I submitted my application sometime in January, and after a week or so I noticed that my TEAS score was unchecked. So I tried submitting a TEAS report from the ATI website to CSUCI to be safe, but I was experiencing problems from ATI; hence, I contacted them via email. They emailed back saying that it would remain unchecked until they begin processing applications. I haven't bothered looking at the application status 'til today, and I noticed that it was finally checked.

So, I can't tell you when, maybe they haven't gotten to your application yet (?). Maybe give it a week or two (?)

As for the estimated points, I did calculate something higher before my submission. Initially, I had thought that I probably miscalculated something so I trusted the algorithm embedded in their system that calculates the points, but for some reason after the TEAS score was checked my score went up to 36 (which I initially calculated). Unfortunately, they do NOT send score reports/summaries regarding their calculations, nor can you request them. So, I am not too sure. However, as you can tell from the application window, it says that the points are constantly under review as supplement materials are being verified; therefore, I wouldn't worry too much since you just submitted your application. You'll probably get your calculated score in no time ;)

Hmm thats so strange because the points that appear on my application is what I calculated initially even with my TEAS score unchecked. But then again, maybe I'm the one calculating wrong.

I mean honestly, we all probably have different cases. So it's hard to gage the differences in calculations. I wouldn't sweat it.

Good luck everyone!
