Critical thinking

Hello, I am applying for the BSN program, I have to submit 3 essays and I was hoping that you guys can give me some ideas about these 2 questions.

1.- Describe a scenario that challenged your core values and explain how you responded.

2.- Give an example of a challenge in which you utilized critical thinking skills to resolve the issue.

Featured Replies

Since these questions ask for YOUR core values, YOUR responses and how YOU utilized YOUR critical thinking skills, I believe it is best (and most honest) for you to answer these questions without our help.

The above answer is an example of both :)

thanks, I just wanted to know if you could share one of your experiences, I do understand that I have to right about my own. Thanks for the comments

Sorry, I don't really have much in the way of specifics that comes to mind. But do bear in mind that "critical thinking" is very, very similar to just "thinking," and an example of using it doesn't have to be a life-or-death situation. Almost any situation that involves problem solving and setting priorities would do. I could say I was using critical thinking if I decide to do my laundry before I go grocery shopping, so that I can wear clean clothes to the grocery store. Better still, going grocery shopping during the heat of the day, since it's nice and cool in the produce and frozen foods sections, then doing laundry in the evening, when it isn't quite so hot and power consumption isn't at its peak.

But I'd suggest looking for something a bit more important than that. Almost any problem from a service-related job might do.

thank you so much, your comment was awesome :-)

Critical thinking... maybe you encountered a problem.. and you figured out a way to make it work or to solve that problem... or you figured out ways to solve it but they didnt work, so you crossed that off the list and moved onto something else.. think of everyday things such as a problem with your family, orrr.. something with school... orr... something that you accomplished because you used your "thinking skills".

There is not a wrong answer when it comes to critical thinking.. you thought about the situation.. you thought about ways to deal with the situation.. did it work? yes? great. Did it not work?.. then what did you do from there..

good luck :)

Good luck on the essay...remember to check your spelling, proper tense, and proper use of words.

Try the student forum, there have to be many out there now writing essays.

Tell how you assessed the situation, your thoughts on how to deal with the problem, what you did, and did it work (sounds like th nursing process: assess, plan, implement, evaluate).
