I just called the nursing office and little to my dismay, the the 12 credits that has to be obtained before you can apply to WCCCD's nursing program doesn't start until January of 2009. I went to two information meetings before I applied this term and they stated that you must have 12 credit hours to even be considered for Spring 09. All of a sudden at the last minute they changed it without even informing the students. That was some BS. If I would have known that I would have applied in February instead of getting my hopes up high for nothing. Now I have to do the whole application process over again. Thanks WCCCD. Where learning truly does lead to a better life!

I also just called and asked about th e new NET requirements because my reading was only a 57 she said not to worry about taking it over because they might not even look at the NET next year. why cant they stick to what they say??

this is some really messed up BS! i guess that's why mrs. n kept saying that for the fall of 09 they were starting their point system and i was just confused like yea they did tell me when i called that they were starting their point for the fall but they were still telling me that if you got all A's in your prereq's and took the prereq's with them and had med. back ground exp. u were good 2 go. so i guess this explains the mystery of the 3.7 again. u know they could have just said hey were still taking transfer students and of course i would not have applied with a 3.5!!! by the way, why do it seem like transfer have higher gpa's ? i more ****** cause i gotta take the net over. wcccd really need 2 get their info accurate!!!
so what r everyone's plans i guess i'll start practicing for the net again, and reg to take a&p again to get me at a 3.7

When are you applying for the program? I am applying in Feb 2009, but I only have a 3.4 GPA..dont I have a good chance since they changed the requirements? I suggest attending another info meeting. WCCC does need to get their stuff together!! I am going to reapply in Jun 2009 and will have a 3.7 and all my coreqs done too. If you reapply does that hurt your chances?

I attended an INFO meeting in November. Mrs. N was pretty clear on the requirements...
1) If you are a transfer student you need at least 12 credits before you apply.
2) You must have a 59 on the math portion of the NET... (I can't remember the composite score but it was low)
Maybe you all should just take the info from the INFO meetings.... I'm realizing that WCCCD is not the most organized, but I think their Nursing program outranks all the other community colleges in the state... So the positives out wau the negatives.
I would attend another INFO meeting and follow everything she says...
I'm a transfer student from OCC, I have a 3.921 overall, nothing but pre-reqs... After I re-take MICRO (since WCCCD doesn't accept MICRO of Health & Disease) and AG/AAS (a 4 credit class that if you get an A will raise your GPA).. I'm hoping it will bring almost to the 4.0 mark... If you do take any classes over, make sure they're 4 credit classes, so it can raise you GPA if you get A's in them...
I realized that Nursing is competitive so I worked my A$$ off in all of my classes...

crazy, why would you apply in feb with a 3.4 and then again in jun with a 3.7.. you should complete the classes and apply in jun when you know you will get in.. i say don't apply with anything less than a 3.7...
go hard or go home.. i wish you all luck...
Well it won't hurt to try in FEB right? I mean do have a chance seeing as though there are new requirments and there may not be 300 ppl applying in FEB...And yes I know all the requirements and I completely understood them. I just wanted to see what others had to say.

Welcome to the world of WCCCD. Everything changes just as quickly as you learned it, just like the medical feild. an instructor once told me....
"NOthing in life comes easy, if you want it that bad, you're going to have to prove it, and fight for it"
I'm not saying that it is right, but no need to get upset. I know it is frustrating.
If there is anything I could help with pls feel free to PM me!
