I do not have a sponsor. I honestly haven't done much of anything other than lay in bed and go to the counseling appts because of singles. I will say I was on percs, valium, and got iv dilaudid in the ER for pain. While I was in so much pain I just wanted relief. . It did give me that. .ohhhh yeah. ....that's why...feeling . I'm still not feeling great...lots of muscle spasms in the ribs..headaches..etc. but oddly, no cravings for a while now. Hopefully that lasts.

I'm 10 months clean and sober. When I get a craving I acknowledge to myself that it's perfectly normal and let it pass. I promise eventually they pass quicker and quicker. I try not to spend too much time thinking about the craving ...get busy doing something else. Call someone...be open and honest about my cravings with my counselor. Don't forget to play the rest of the tape out if you find yourself mentally glorifying using.

That is a great piece of advice! Thank you!

I have 3 years of sobriety. Cravings never go away. Atleast for me. I have found that certain things trigger the cravings. So if I can absolutely avoid it, I will. As more time passed I found ways to not help the cravings. Trust me I have my days. A few times I went to meetings all day and got support from fellow recovering addicts. It is true a good support system helps :)

:( I'm glad you are managing but it always makes me sad to see people who still struggle so much who are not in early sobriety. I've definitely been gifted with cravings becoming less as I get more consecutive days sober. At two years sober, I can easily go days into weeks without wanting a drink and when I do, it's a passing thought.

I have those days too. The holidays are usually when I have a harder time. My husband and I look at my addiction like this... it's like cancer, it can come back anytime. ( I'm not saying cancer is like being an addict ) . Addiction can come back anytime. Cancer can come out of remission. Get it? They number one thing that helps me not relapse is looking at my 3 sons. I gotta keep it together for them. :)
