Most instructors (in my personal experience) go out of their way to make the class as pleasant and painless as possible -- I know it's a hassle to track down a class, get signed up, and spend a day doing it, but it will be pretty simple and probably somewhat fun.
Or, another way of thinking about it -- it will be a whole lot less hassle than most of the stuff you will do in nursing school! :chuckle
Good luck and best wishes!

Ahh, I am so stressed right now. I signed up for a basic CPR class because for my nursing school application I am required to have CPR certification. On the list of pre-reqs, it doesn't specify a certain type of certification. The AHA said that I need the healthcare provider CPR, so I e-mailed our nursing department and I was told that I did need the healthcare provider CPR. This is really getting to be a pain. I just needed to vent, so sorry guys! I feel a lot better now.
Can you change your registration to the BLS for Health Care Providers (HCP) ? I am sorry that this is happening to you. It has to be frustrating.
Unfortunately, if you attend the basic course, you will need to complete the one for HCP. The basic does not cover all the material you will need.

I just took the healthcare provider class on Tuesday. I think there were only four things they taught us that were different than the regular class. You should be able to find the class through local hospitals or the Red Cross.

Sorry about the troubles...
You definitely need the Basic Healthcare Provider CPR. The Healthcare gives a "C" level certification, if I'm correct, and others do not. The healthcare CPR class instructs you on adult, child, and infant CPR.
I looked at local hospital websites and found a class for $45. Hopefully you can switch classes, or attend another at a local hospital.
ALSO...Make sure that the class you are registering for is for a NEW certication, not a RENEWAL! (Unless you have a current CPR certification.)
Good luck to you.
