Conflicting information

I'm looking at changing careers and have researched over the past year nursing and it definately sounds like a career that I would like to pursue. However, I get conflicting information on the job market for nurses. Is there a need and shortage or is it media hype. Also, I thought about getting my LPN first so I can get into the field and then do my RN studies a year later. Is there many jobs for LPN? I currently live in Denver but considering a move to the west coast (CA or OR) or FL, is there one area better then the other for jobs?

Thanks for any input.:roll

I'd do the RN thing, and get your BSN if you have the time and resources. This will be good especially if you are planning on changing locations. I've heard that the pay is better for a BSN than an ASN (anyone know if that's true?) on the coasts. Just a thought.

arha40, I live in Denver as well and can tell you there are plenty of jobs available here. Especially with the two hospitals just opening. You would probably be better off going to get your degree and go for RN. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
