Conflicted

So I am still pretty new to this profession and I recently found out that some of my residents hate me and some of the staff are mad at me, IDK why. I don't purposely try to make them mad-I am trying to do my best and I am only human. I realize not everyone will like me or want my help-how should I handle the residents who don't like me? Obviously, if they don't like me they won't want my help.

Don't allow perceived opinions to keep you from doing your job to the best of your abilities. If everybody acted on negative opinions at work, a lot of people would end up staying home instead of working. You can't please everybody all the time.

Do I let the other person handle with the residents that don't like me?

Talk to the residents and the staff. See what's going on. Talking to strangers isn't going to help. Not everyone's going to like you, but if it's that bad that you can't even have certain residents then that's a big problem, and I would find it hard to believe you'll kept your job.

Don't take anything personal. Not from residents or co workers.

Some people just complain and are negative especially to a new person.

Just do your job. If a resident doesn't want you to care for them, the nurse will re assign you. If the nurse thinks it's an issue with how you do your job, they will talk to you about it. Some residents just don't like/trust new people...and when you are reassigned some coworkers get annoyed because now they have to change up their routine.

If management isn't calling you into the office to talk to you about your work. Don't worry about it.

You aren't there to make friends. You are there to do a job. Period.

You're right. :) I'm not gonna take it seriously.
