I've worked in LTC for about 4 years, and I had a pretty good routine as a floor nurse. Well recently I changed positions from floor nurse to treatment/restorative nurse. I feel so lost now!! I'm not a nurse that does things "half way" and I feel like I'm in wayyy over my head. How in the world do you create a well organized treatment and restorative program?? Any ideas will be very much appreciated!! Thanks :)

Identify one problem at a time and implement the correction. Allow a bit of time for the change to solidify then on to the next problem. "Fixing" systems is a marathon, and requires patience. Good luck with your new position. :)

I work both positions as a prn RN. I love the wound care/restorative position!! It gives you the chance to critically think and your not a slave to that pill cart. As to the routine part it will come. You now have the oppportunity and time to make meaningdul changes. I hope you end up enjoying this new position!!

I've been a nurse for more than 30 years, and some days I'm overwhelmed with everything we are expected to do. One bit at a time until it's all done.
