Alright, here's the downlow. I am looking into my options for an ADN. I am located in the US, in the South, in Mississippi. I was reviewing the course requirements for MGCCC's ADN, and I noticed that College Wlgebra is not in the course listings. Does anyone know if this is a misprint, or a legitimate option ? And, what is your opinion on needing College Algebra. I do not plan to pursue my BSN.

We needed college algebra to satisfy the requirements of our degree (ADN). I would speak with your academic advisor/contact the school directly to find out if it is a misprint or if it is indeed required for your program. Whether you plan to go on for your BSN or not, college algebra will more than likely be required to complete your associate in nursing.

In my college, they require college algebra or statistics for ASN and both for BSN. Is that maybe your case?

It depends on the program, for the program that I applied to at my CC intermediate algebra satisfied the math requirement. Check with the school that you are trying to get into what their requirements are, each school may have different requirements. Talk with an advisor that works with prenursing students, or someone from the nursing program itself to get clarification of what classes you need to complete.
I got in touch with an academic counselor and found out that the no college level math is required for my ADN, but if I was to transfer, it would be needed. So Dosage Calc is all I would need. I so thrilled. Math has never been my strong point.
WOW, lucky you. I despise math especially algebra. I can do basic math no problem but when it comes to solving for x and finding logarithms, nope...don't count me in. But I did complete it and got a B so its all good.

I was required to take College Algebra as a pre-req for the ADN program I have just applied to. In my opinion, (although take this with a grain of salt because I'm not yet a nurse) I don't think it should be required if we're talking about knowledge that is absolutely necessary to prepare you for nursing. However, it does teach you to use problem-solving skills, which is important, so there's always that. By the way, I noticed you said that you're not planning to pursue a BSN. Do the hospitals in your area not require it (or prefer it)?
